Cement lights :  "COBBLESTONE"

- Inspiration: The cobblestone alleys of the Cyclades, which are whitewashed every year, create a unique pattern.

This lime print has an organic form, which belongs to the trend of modern architecture for organic forms.

           

- The "COBBLESTONES" artlights have an organic structure that highlights this "trace" of lime in the Cycladic alleys.

Cement lights : "PEBBLES"​

- Inspiration Photo :

- Inspiration: I found the most beautiful pebbles on Damouchari beach, in Pelion.  

I studied their shapes and the imperfections that contribute to their natural beauty.

 

-The "PEBBLES" artlights have sculptural forms with naturalness and an excellent relation with the daylight.

 

"PEBBLES" come in many sizes, shapes and shades .

Cement lights : "ISLAND"

- Inspiration Photo:

- Inspiration: The traditional architecture of the Cyclades, with its soft volumes, the curved edges of the houses, the asymmetries and the walls with their embossed appearance, create a free and charming aesthetic.

  

- The artlights "ISLAND" follows these aesthetic rules.

 

- "ISLAND" is a free-form sculpture, which cannot be reproduced faithfully and each one is unique.

Cement lights : "FALLING STARS"

- Inspiration Photo:

The “PERSEIDES” shooting stars in Meteora. Photo: Babak Tafreshi

- Inspiration : On the summer nights in Greece, when we see stars falling we make a wish. Shooting stars fascinate people worldwide.

- The artlights "FALLING STARS" have a polyhedral form that looks like an asymmetrically broken stone. Their oblique suspension emphasizes the movement of the falling stars. 

Each one is a unique sculpture, with Trihedron, Tetrahedron, Pentahedron and Hexahedron forms. The inside of the "FALLING STARS" is painted with Metallic paints.

Cement lights: "COMETS"

- Inspiration : The visual effect created by Comets in the sky is quite similar to shooting stars, but on a larger scale and duration.

 

- The artlights "COMETS", have a polyhedral form similar to the "falling stars", but in a much larger size.

The "COMETS" come in a wide range of gray shades, from ash gray to anthracite. Their iinner side is always painted with metallic colors.

The "COMETS" are impressive also in Black color or in Gray shades.

Cement lights : "STONES"

- Inspiration : The stones have Polyhedral Free forms, resulting from their random fractures. Each stone is also distinguished by its patinas.

 

- The artlights "STONES" have also a Free Polyhedral Form.

Their surface have a rough texture and they  painted to resemble real stones.

Cement lights : "CONES"

- Inspiration : Fond memories of the paper cones where we used to buy sunflower seeds or fishes. The paper cones, have an excellent shape.                                                                                                                                  

- The artlights "CONES" have an important peculiarity : As the concrete "page" turns, its outer side, which is re-formed, does NOT touch the inner side, allowing the light to escape.

 

- The free twisting of the cement, like a paper, in each "CONE" is unique.

Cement light : "DOVECOATE"

- Inspiration Photo :

- Inspiration : Tinos island is famous for the dovecotes,  the pigeon's houses, which are jewels of Cycladic architecture. Each dovecote has its own motifs. 

 

- The artlights "DOVECOTES", represent the shape and the openings of the pigeon's houses. Each one, has alternation of patterns and unique appearance.

 

The "DOVECOTES" also have a table version.

Cement lights : "CUBE"

                             The cuts in "CUBE" create impressive rays of light on the wall.

- Detail:

Broken Glass Insertion.

- Inspiration : "Pandora's Box".  According to the legend, when the box was opened and the suffering was released, only HOPE remained inside. 

So, I wanted to create a Cubist Box dedicated to Hope, waiting for the switch to be turned on to release Hope as Light.

 

- The artlight "CUBE" is characterized by vertical, horizontal & oblique sections,

as Gates of escape of Light & Hope.

 

Pieces of broken Glass are embedded, giving special flashes of light.

Cement lights : "FLOW"  

- Inspiration photo :

  Sarakiniko Beach, Milos island .

- Inspiration : In Milos, in the famous Sarakiniko, the landscape is characterized by a sculptural fluidity. The white rocks, sculpted by air and water, create sculptural volumes with flowing curves.

- The artlights "FLOW" are characterized by curves and openings that follow this fluidity.

The curved openings, create extraordinary flashes of light and light shadows.

- "FLOW" lights are handmade sculptures, without the use of a mould casting.

Cement light : "VOLCANO"

- Inspiration photo :

 Detail of real lava.

 - Inspiration : The volcano of Santorini is perhaps the most iconic volcano of Greece, with its history and the myths that surround it.

- The artlight "VOLCANO", has a structure characterized by broken lines that cross and create trapezoid holes.
It has the colours of lava : Black with Copper paint of my own composition, very bright.

- The series includes "VOLCANO", "VOLCANO LUNGO" and "GRAND VOLCANO".

Cement light : "VOLCANO - LUNGO"

The artlights "VOLCANO - LUNGO", have  more long & thin form, than the "VOLCANO".

Their surface is characterized by large openings, creating a perforated form, where the back sides are also visible (their inner side).

Cement light : "GRAND  VOLCANO" 

- The artlights "Grand VOLCANO" are even larger in size.

The scale of the openings on the surface, gradually decreases towards the top.

- The sculptural lights "Grand VOLCANO" come in two sizes: Extra Large & Giga.

 

- The "Grand VOLCANO", at "Cavo Tagoo Hotel Santorini".

Cement lights : "CAVES"

- Inspiration : The Cavehouses of Santorini and the Caves that we find in Matala beachin Creete and other areas of Greece.

 

- The artlights "CAVES"  have a domed structure and curved openings based on the cavities of the caves.                     

"CAVES" create impressive light shadows and glows on the walls.             

 

​​Colours : The "CAVES" can be monochrome or  two-tone,  with Metallic colours inside:

-Black with Copper                   -Elephant with Gold      -All Copper             -Black with Gold.

Cement light :  "DOME"

- Inspiration photo :

Vaulted ceiling in a cavehouse.

- Inspiration : The domes created indoors, in the cavehouses in Cyclades islands.

 

- The artlight "DOME" has large size, with an oval shape.

The asymmetrical finish on the underside, creates different perspectives from various angles.

 

- Dimensions : Oval cross-section 75 x 55 cm - Height in the middle 50 cm.

- Colour : All white or white on the outside , silver inside.

Cement lights : "GEMS"

- Inspiration : What are the Cyclades islands? Rocks scattered in the Aegean Sea, like precious gems. Among them Mykonos island, has stood out for decades as a rare diamond.

- The artlight "GEM"  have the form of a rock that rises, with a prismatic structure.

Their perforated surface has a "Diamond Cut" effect design, as the gemstones.      

- The inside is painted with a particularly bright Silver-Platinum colour of my own composition, which captures the dazling shine of the sea, at midday.

 

The "GEMS" have Extra Large size.

Cement lights :  "LIMPETS"

- Inspiration : The limpets, the barnacle shells that cling to the rocks.  

                                             

-The artlights "LIMPETS" have a trihedral form, with slightly curved surfaces. Each "LIMPET" is made by hand without a mould. That is why it is unique both in its shape and in the way it floats when suspended.  

 

Some "LIMPETS" are horizontal at the bottom, while most are slanted.

Their eccentric support makes the underside float obliquely in space, enhancing the stereoscopic effect.

The "LIMPETS" come in many colours and shades. Gray, elephant gray, ivory, white, anthracite, black, but also in more intense colours, such as terracotta, ochre, olive, lilac, indigo etc.

Cement lights : "ROOTS"

- Inspiration : The roots of Olive trees, which are the sacred trees of Greece.

- The artlights "ROOTS" are made of Cement, handmade without mould. That is why each "ROOT" is a unique sculpture.

The "ROOTS" are painted to look like real roots.

They are ideally sized for placement above dining tables, or above bedside tables.

- Inspiration : While exploring Pelion, I discovered trees whose trunks were covered with ivy. The ivy had thick roots that created a lattice around the trunks, of visual interest.


-The artlights "DAEDALOS" is characterised by a labyrinthine composition of Cement Roots.  


The "DAEDALOS" is a completely handmade sculpture, without the use of a mould.
Its cement roots are painted, acquiring the realistic image of real roots.


"DAEDALOS" is a pendant light fixture or it  can be placed on table or at the  floor.

Cement light : "LANTERN"

- Inspiration photo : Traditional Lantern

- The "LANTERNS", at XENIA 2017, booth HOME DECO.  

- Inspiration : In my grandmother's era, when there were refrigerators with ice pillars, people also used "Lanterns" to preserve some food.                                                                                                                                 

Lanterns were metallic or wooden structures, with screens around them, to allow passing air to created better conditions for preserving food. 

These charming memories of Greece's past, inspired me to create "LANTERN".

 

- The artlight "FLANTERN"  is made of cement.

On its front and back side, a special woven linen screen with primitive style is incorporated, to filter the light.

Cement lights : "ARCH"

- Inspiration photo :

- Inspiration : Arches are very beautiful whether they are gates or recesses.

There is something about their form that creates emotions. They add Prestige to a Premium space, Relaxation to a Cycladic home, Awe & Serenity to a Monastery.

- The artlight "ARCH"  has curved sides that embrace the light, and two openings front and back with the characteristic shape of an Arch.

The "ARCHES" are monochrome or with metallic paint on the inside.

- The "ARCHES" can have a visible vintage E29 bulb or concealed lighting with a GU10 spotlight.

Cement light : "FOSSIL"

- Inspiration : A fossilized shell. Its rough surface and its truncated mouthpiece create an intensely primitive aesthetic. 

- The artlight "FOSSIL" aesthetically balances wild elements and textures, with an overall calm appearance.

This aesthetic duality, is aligned with the philosophy of Wabi-sabi.

Cement lights :  "WEIGHTS"

-Inspiration photo : Vintage Weights

- Inspiration : Wandering around Monastiraki or Camden Market, I discovered old Iron Weights. Their minimalist form and the colour patinas they acquired over time, fascinated me.

- The artlights "WEIGHTS" have a simple line, with interesting variations in the shape of the handles. The Cement Lights "WEIGHTS" hanging with rope-cable at different heights, have visual interest.

Cement lights : WEIGHTS  "ANTHRAX"

- Inspiration : Anyone who notices a piece of charcoal will be impressed by the shades of black. Reflections of grey and a range in charcoal grey tones, to deep black appear.

 

- The artlights WEIGHTS-"ANTHRAX"  are painted on the outside with all the shades of charcoal. For their innerside I chose the colour range of light grey cement.


The WEIGHTS-"ANTHRAX", while giving the feeling of aged , have color quality with depth, that adds luxury.

Cement lights : WEIGHTS -"INK"

- Inspiration :  Ink is a unique expressive material. Ink used in Abstract paintings create artworks with excellent aesthetics.

 

- The artlights WEIGHTS -"INK"  are painted with Ink.

 I use the  lights WEIGHTS as a white canvas, where i paint with ink in an abstract way. Thus each one is stamped in a unique way.

The ink gives a special painting effect on the cement, creating an interesting visual depth and create  wonderful colour degrades with the decays I selectively create.

Cement lights : "POTS"

- Inspiration photo :

Broken ancient  pot, with metalic staplers , at  the archaeological site of Acheron.

- Inspiration : Broken ancient pots that have been reconstructed with the few pieces that have been found, using metallic staplers.     

                                                                                                   

- The artlights "POTS" highlight the charm of an incomplete form.

"POTS" are handmade from cement. They are painted  with colour patinas, to look ancient.  

 

The outline of the fragments  are extra aged, with hand-applied decays.  


 

The fragments are joined together with metal staplers, with a painted rust effect.

Cement lights : "SKETES"

- Inspiration photo :

The Sketes in Meteora.

Inspiration : The imposing monoliths of Meteora.  High on the rocks are the Sketes, the carved caves where the monks lived.

 

-The artlights "SKETES" have an oval form, resembling the silhouette of the rocks. They are filled with openings in shapes similar to the caves.

 

The outer surface of the "SKETES"  is painted with patinas that resemble the erosions of rocks.

Cement light : "SKAROS  ROCK"  

- Inspiration photo : The famous Skaros Rock of Santorini island.

Inspiration : Skaros, the famous rock of Santorini, on which there was a castle town with 200 houses.

Skaros was the medieval capital of Santorini until the 18th century.

 


- The artlight "SKAROS" has the shape of the rock of Santorini, in a stylized version.

 

The white lines on the surface of "SKAROS" symbolize the alleys, the narrow streets of the castle town of Skaros.  Today only one path is preserved.

- "SKAROS" is made for a Spotlight - GU10 type bulb.

Cement light : "MINOAN"

- Inspiration : The Minoan Snake Goddess figurine. The figurine's skirt features alternating linear and smooth surfaces."

 

- The artlight "MINOAN" is a three-sided geometric form. Each face is an irregular trapezoidal shape.

The surfaces exhibit an embossed pattern of alternating ribs and smooth areas. The lamp is compatible with both E27 and GU10 light sources."

Cement lights : Applique "PEBBLE"

- Inspiration : Every time I found a nice big pebble, I thought how cool it would be, if it could be hunged onto a wall, with hidden lighting.

 

- The artlight "PEBBLE" Applique  is made of cement, with a smooth surface that has small imperfections to look like a real pebble.

It has hidden lighting, with perimeter light diffusion.

- The "PEBBLES" may be used to decorate a central column of a house (Photo: Top right).

-  A few "PEBBLES" can be placed  together in a vertical composition, creating an installation called "ZEN".

Cement lights : Applique "SPONGE"

- Inspiration photo :

         Natural Sponge

- Inspiration: The stories of the sponge divers of Kalymnos island and the beauty of sponges with their complex structures fascinate me.

Sponges play a significant role in the marine environment, filtering water and coming in a wide variety of shapes, forms, and colors.

- The artlight "SPONGE" Applique,  is a minimalist interpretation of the complex structure of sponges, featuring holes of various sizes.

 

The "SPONGE" has free-hanging ends at the top and bottom.

Cement light : Applique "BLACK SPONGE"

 - Inspiration Photo :

 Natural Black Sponge

- Inspiration:  Its quite rare, but they are existing Natural Black Sponges.

 

- The artlight "BLACK SPONGE" Applique, are wall-mounted sconces.

 

The black color creates a striking contrast against the wall, emphasizing the free-form edges and varying hole sizes.

 

The emitted light casts dramatic shadows on the wall.

A pile of aged, stacked Roof Tiles.

Cement lights : Applique "ROOF TILES"

- Inspiration: Ancient Greek roof tiles, possess exceptional form and proportions.

Invented in Lerna of Argolis in Greece, in the 3rd millennium BC, their minimalist form remains modern to this day.

 

- The artlights "ROOF TILES" Applique, are indoor and outdoor sconces made of concrete. The bottom side can feature various shaped openings.

 

- The "ROOF TILES" can also be used as covers for waterproof outdoor wall spotlights, enhancing the aesthetic of the space.

- The Appliques "ROOF TILES" come in two sizes: Medium size without holes and Large size with openings in various shapes.
